Marina Sassi is a self-taught artist who began to paint at a very young age, mainly inspired by subjects from nature, such as animal life, landscapes and nature in general.

She has a always shown a deep interest in Native American culture and spirituality, which she very quickly adopted as the main subject for her works.

The artist likes to define her work as the fruit of an intense dialogue between the mysterious forces that converge in nature and the universe.

"...What fascinates is the movement of the bodies, made more effective by the flows of color... ...moving horses of such lightness and gracefulness that they seem transparent..."
(Rosanna Ricci - Il Resto del Carlino )

Marina Sassi depicts heroic deeds, forgotten traditions, strong imaginative exploration of the soul; she is currently one of the very few Italian painters in the category defined as Western Art in the United States.

She prefers to work with natural materials such as wood or recycled paper, she paints medium to large sized canvases, using a wide variety of techniques, from carbon stick and pastel to acrylics, oils and mixed media based on collage, sand paste mixtures, vinyl glue, sawdust, gesso and different varnish finishes.

"Marina Sassi, extraordinary painter of horses and Indians, lover of the deep mystery, of the Spirit of the Earth, of the secret eternity of existences, of their arcane blending into the unity of the Whole. In her painting lives the soul of the invisible, of memory, of nostalgia, of dreams. A painting dense with all the real urgency of symbols, of the evidence of the signs that call us elsewhere: to imagination, to childhood, to the imperceptible senses, to the roots of life and death, to the reasons of the beyond...".
(Andrea Brigliadori - Confini n. 21 - 2005)

She has participated in several collectives in the United States and has organized several personal events in Italy.

Her works are present in private collections in Italy, Switzerland and the United States.
